[quote=KwlAznKid;10832519]hi guys, 2. i was probably playing for bout 2-3 minutes (car was off but key was in) i got a message that said LOW BATTERY and on the dash it showed a picture of the car battery where the temp is usually shown. i got scared and turned the car off and the on right away to test the battery.. it turned on perfectly and has been fine..
I have the battery on a charger, it is fairly new, about 18mo. old. It sat for several months prior to getting the car done and running into these issues so its possible the battery isn't the strongest. Last night, I had 12.6v when starting my INPA diagnosis so I believe I have enough juice but anything is possible with these cars.
The voltage should be between 13.5 and 14.8 volts with the engine running. Switch on the accessories in your 3 Series, for example, headlights, AC fan at full speed, and interior lights. The voltage should remain around 14 volts. If it drops and remain below 13.5 volts, it indicates a problem with the current supply from the alternator.
Your BMW may not reach its optimal temperature, particularly if it’s cold out, decreasing horsepower and fuel economy. Stuck Halfway: The third way that a thermostat can fail is if it becomes stuck halfway, typically as a result of a jammed piston. This is much more common than being stuck open or closed, and is probably the least serious issue.

Watching this video will help you diagnose to see if it's time to replace I had no idea the BMW hex code was so non-specific. [The 4-digit code number itself is "non-specific" in many instances, but there are "additional digits" or identifiers which are NOT read or interpreted by "Non-BMW" Scan Tools. As stated before, INPA gives you BOTH a detailed definition AND the corresponding P-code. An external battery tester (Midtronics EXP-1000) must be used to determine if the battery needs to be replaced. Energy Diagnosis will not prompt for a battery replacement unless the battery is “aged.” When energy diagnosis identifies the battery as “aged,” it means the amount of energy discharge over the course of the life of the battery They seem to last about 3-4 years these days When buying a new one make sure it's coded to your car. Failure to code it to your car will result in the battery being overcharged dramatically reducing it's life expectancy. I need a new battery too. Keeps getting those annoying low batt warnings. As per your attached SIB PDF, the fuse panel must be dropped from the dash to see/access the battery cable connection in the back. I did check the connection at the battery and it is good. Given my symptoms, I can almost guarantee that the fuse box connection is bad per the recall: - clock resets itself randomly.

Engine ground cable (strap, right side low in engine compartment) I didn’t know we even had one of these – just never came across it (from under the car or on any diagrams) and because there’s a ground from the battery to the body – never thought about it. Well it is important!!!
